Missing fugitive apprehended

A fugitive from Searcy County, Michael Elliott, has been apprehended and is being transported back to Searcy County. According to Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell, Elliott has been avoiding law enforcement for over two months after failing to report to authorities as required by the circuit court.

Cassell stated Elliott was scheduled to be transported to the Arkansas Department of Corrections (ADC) after sentencing. Elliott and his wife, Amber Elliott also known as Amber McQueen, fled the area and remained missing until Wednesday, December 11.

Cassell explained on Monday, December 9, 2019, Searcy County Chief Deputy Dewayne Pierce contacted the fugitive recovery team with the Arkansas Community Correction's parole and probation division and explained the situation to Officer Jaime Cole, whose team began tracking Elliott immediately.

Amber McQueen was arrested by Cassell and Pierce on an outstanding warrant from Desoto County, Mississippi. She was immediately jailed in Searcy County.

On Wednesday, December 11, Pierce received confirmation, that Michael Elliott had been taken into custody in Baxter County. According to Pierce, Elliott will be transported back to Searcy County awaiting transport the Arkansas Department of Corrections.
