ICE detainee arrested in SC

  According to Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell, Walter Nehemias Diaz-Lapoyeu was arrested in Searcy County on Thursday, November 26, by Searcy County Chief Deputy Dewayne Pierce and Deputy Joey Baysinger and transported to the Searcy County Detention Center where he was charged with public intoxication/drinking in public.

  Cassell said when Pierce checked Diaz-Lapoyeu's fingerprints through the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS), he learned that Diaz-Lapoyeu was an ICE (U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement) detainee.

  On Friday, November 27, Diaz-Lapoyeu was transported from the Searcy County Detention Center by ICE to an undisclosed location where Diaz-Lapoyeu will be held under federal control.
