Bench warrant leads to arrest

07/30/2019

On July 19, Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell reported that Searcy County Deputy Billy Cordell arrested Rufus Williams, age 30, of Harrison near Oak Street in Leslie on a bench warrant for failure to appear.

After confirming that Williams had an active bench warrant, Cordell made contact with Williams and attempted to search him for weapons. During the search, Williams attempted to take some items out of his right front pocket, which fell to the ground.

Cordell noticed that one of the items was a small baggie containing what appeared to be methamphetamine residue.

Williams was transported to the Searcy County Detention Center where he was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, Class D felony. At time of this release, Williams was being held in the Searcy County Jail.
