07/30/2019

During the Fourth of July holiday period, a routine traffic stop lead to the arrest of a Marshall woman. On June 29, Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell reported that Jamie Lynn Stephens, age 39, of Marshall was arrested after Searcy County Deputy Billy Cordell noticed Stephen’s vehicle cross the centerline on Hwy. 27 and travel into his lane.

When Cordell conducted a traffic stop on Stephens, he noticed that she was extremely nervous so he requested the use of Marshall Police Officer Sam Holliman and his K9 to conduct an open air sniff of the vehicle. Holliman informed Cordell that the canine indicated a positive alert for narcotics in the vehicle.

Upon searching the vehicle, Cordell located a homemade glass smoking device in the trunk. After using a Nar-Tee field test on Stephens, it tested positive for meth.

Stephens was arrested and transported to the Searcy County Jail where she was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, meth, cocaine, Class D felony.
