Marshall man arrested following traffic stop

20 year old Trevor Allen Willcutt was arrested on Tuesday, July 30, after Searcy County Deputy Billy Cordell conducted a routine traffic stop on Willcutt for turning into the wrong lane of traffic while negotiating a turn.

According to Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell, when Cordell initiated the traffic stop he noticed that Willcutt's speech was impaired. Cordell asked Willcutt to exit his vehicle and Searcy County Deputy Troy Dye administered the three field sobriety tests. Officers noticed that Willcutt had difficulty performing all three tests, so they placed him under arrest for suspicion of DWI and transported him to the Searcy County Detention Center.

During the booking process, Detention Officer Dakota English saw a small white baggie fall from Willcutt's pants. A NARTEC field test kit showed the substance tested positive for methamphetamine. A urine test, which Willcutt agreed to take, tested positive for methamphetamine and THC.

Willcut was charged with possession of a controlled substance, Class D felony; furnishing, processing or using prohibited articles, Class B felony; DWI drugs, Class A misdemeanor; improper turn traffic violation; and left of center traffic violation.

Willcutt is currently being held in the Searcy County Jail awaiting his first appearance is Searcy County Circuit Court.
