Drug raid at Glen Echo

During the early morning hours of Thursday, August 8, Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell, his deputies and members of the Marshall Police Department, 20th Judicial Task Force, Stone County Sheriff's Department, Van Buren County Sheriff's Department, Arkansas Division of Community Corrections (Parole/Probation) and the Arkansas Game and Fish Law Enforcement Division executed a raid on the Glen Echo Apartments in Leslie following a lengthy investigation into the situation.

During the raid, law enforcement officials arrested several individuals. Located and seized in the raid was narcotics, cash monies and a vehicle.

The following individual were arrested and taken to the Searcy County Detention Center. Twentieth Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Carol Crews charged them with the following:

Scarlet Massey, age 29, of Leslie was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor, first degree, Class D felony; possession of drug paraphernalia, Class D felony; failure to keep record maintaining drug premises, Class D felony; possession of drug paraphernalia, Class A misdemeanor; four counts of delivery of a controlled substance, Class C felony; and proximity to certain facilities, which is an enhanced penalty. Her bond was set at $27,500.

James Watkins, age 64, of Marshall was charged with four counts of delivery of methamphetamine, Class C felony; and proximity to certain facilities, which is an enhanced penalty; possession of a controlled substance, Class D felony; possession of drug paraphernalia, Class D felony; use of possession of paraphernalia, Class B felony; possession of drug paraphernalia, Class A misdemeanor; possession of controlled substance, Schedule VI, Class A misdemeanor; offenses relating to records maintaining premises refuse entry, Class C felony; and possession of a firearm by certain persons, Class D felony. His bond was set at $40,000.

Donya Rae Phillips, age 49, of Leslie was charged with possession of a controlled substance, Scheduled I/II methamphetamine, Class D felony; possession of drug paraphernalia, Class D felony; and use or possession of drug paraphernalia to ingest, inhale, Class D felony; and use or possession of drug paraphernalia to manufacture drugs, Class B felony. Her bond was set at $12,500.

Kenneth Alan Gonzales, age 52, of Leslie was charged with possession with drugs with intent to deliver, Class B felony; use or possession of drug paraphernalia to manufacture, Class B felony; offenses relating to records maintaining premises - drug free zone, Class B felony; possession of drug paraphernalia, Class A misdemeanor; possession with purpose to deliver a controlled substance, Class A misdemeanor; four counts of delivery of meth or cocaine, Class C felony; and proximity to certain facilities, which is an enhanced penalty. His bond was set at $50,000.

Clayton Derek Crawford, age 37, of Leslie was charged with delivery of meth or cocaine, Class C felony; delivery of meth or cocaine, Class B felony; and proximity to certain facilities, which is an enhanced penalty. His bond was set at $15,000.

Sheriff Cassell extends his sincere appreciation to his staff and all of the participating agencies and thanks them for their efforts in serving and protecting the residents of Searcy County.
