According to Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell, on August 10, a sex offender out of Nevada was arrested in Searcy County. Cassell said 37 year old Crystal Elais Fuentes was arrested after the Searcy County Sex Offender Coordinator was contacted on August 2 by the Marshall Police Department regarding Fuentes.

The Marshall Police had contacted Fuentes on the evening of August 2 while she was walking down Hwy. 65 near the Sunset Motel. After checking her records, the police department learned that Fuentes was a registered sex offender from Nevada.

Further investigation into Fuentes by the sheriff’s office revealed that she had a “fail to verify” status with Las Vegas authorities, but no warrant had been issued for her arrest.

Fuentes currently has a valid Arkansas ID card and a Searcy County address. Cassell said his office learned that Fuentes had a lengthy criminal history from Las Vegas and had been convicted of pandering a child with force, pandering-furnish transport to a child, furnishing dangerous drugs to a minor, first degree kidnapping and soliciting or engaging in prostitution.

After receiving this information, the sheriff’s office sex offender coordinator, Cari Seaton, spoke to Fuentes’ case worker who confirmed Fuentes was a tier 3 sex offender and is required to report to law enforcement every 30 days to comply with her registration and requirements and she had failed to do so.

Since Fuentes had been a resident in Searcy County for 33 days and had failed to resister here as a sex offender, along with her failure to verify in Nevada, a warrant affidavit was prepared by Chief Deputy Dewayne Pierce, which was then forwarded to the office of the Prosecuting Attorney.

After receiving the affidavit, the prosecutor issued a warrant for the arrest of Fuentes.  Fuentes was arrested the next day and is in the custody of the Searcy County Detention Center.
