Inmate charged with destroying property

On September 11, Searcy County inmate Jonathan Manning, age 30, of Leslie was charged with criminal mischief after destroying county property.

According to Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell, Manning was charged after Searcy County Deputy Joey Baysinger was called to the Searcy County Detention Center on September 8 by the dispatch officer.

When Baysinger arrived at the jail, detention officer Jim Henry explained that Manning had intentionally broken a window in his holding cell. After reviewing the video footage of the area, Baysinger clearly saw Manning walk to the door and strike the glass with both hands. The cost to replace the broken window is $1,337.32 .

Manning is currently being held in the Searcy County Detention Center on felony theft charges from an unrelated case.

The 20th Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Carol Crews has charged Manning with first degree criminal mischief.
