01/16/2020

Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell reported a number of recent attempted burglaries have occurred in Searcy County. Cassell said the attempted break-ins began approximately three weeks ago. He stressed citizens should be aware and ensure their home and belongings are secure and protected.

Cassell stated Searcy County deputies are currently working two thefts in the Hwy. 74E area; two in the City of Leslie; two on Hwy. 27 near Harriet; and one in St. Joe.

Searcy County Chief Deputy Dewayne Pierce said deputies are following up leads in the Leslie and St. Joe break-ins. Pierce added during this same period a county road grader was vandalized in the Grassy Road area of Searcy County.

Cassell is asking for the public's assistance in this matter. If residents have any information concerning the break-ins or damage done to the grader, they are asked to call the sheriff's office at 870.448.2340. All information will be confidential.
