Displaying firearm leads to arrest / Saint Joe

When Cassell, Chief Deputy Dewayne Pierce, Sgt. Kevin Trammel and Deputy Joey Baysinger arrived at the scene they saw Horton on the east side of Woolum Road removing a revolver from his clothing. Cassell stated Horton threw the gun into the area off of the road and was immediately arrested at gun point by law enforcement.According to Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell, James Clyde Horton, age 28, of St. Joe was arrested after displaying a firearm. According to Cassell, the arrest occurred after his office received an anonymous call concerning a man displaying a gun on the side of the road in St Joe.

After retrieving the handgun, office learned it was loaded with one round missing. While at the scene, a neighbor told the officers that she had seen Horton with the handgun prior to their arrival.

Horton was arrested and transported to the Searcy County Detention Center where he was processed for possession of a firearm by certain persons, Class B felony and enhanced penalty since he is an habitual offender.

He is currently being held in the Searcy County Jail awaiting his first appearance in the Searcy County Circuit Court.
