Man wanted for thefts arrested

  A Leslie man wanted in connection with several thefts in the area has been arrested. According to Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell, Shannon Leon Baker, age 40, was arrested on March 9, 2020 by Searcy County Deputy Lt. Billy Cordell.


  Cassell said Baker was patrolling on Elm Street in Leslie when he noticed a dog barking repeatedly at a bush and decided to investigate. When Cordell approached the bush he noticed a pair of boots in the bush and ordered the man wearing the boots to come out of the bush. At that point, Cordell recognized the man was Shannon Baker.

  Baker was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Searcy County Circuit Court. Deputy Prosecutor Benjamin Fruehauf charged Baker with theft by receiving of more than $1,000 but less than $5,000, Class D felony and theft by receiving of less than $1,000, Class A misdemeanor.

  Baker appeared in Searcy County Circuit Court on Tuesday, March 10, where his bond was set at $2,500. He is scheduled to appear for a pre-trial hearing on April 13.
