Inmates from the Searcy County Detention Center broke ground at the Searcy County Sheriff's Office garden. Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell stated the 22,500 sq. ft. garden is located next to the sheriff's office and will produce a variety of vegetables including potatoes, tomatoes, etc. The garden will be maintained by inmates at the detention center. "The garden will provide inmates the opportunity to get fresh air and exercise while helping to maintain food costs at the jail," Cassell said.
