ATV accident injures two

05/05/2020

According to Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell, two Searcy County men sustained injuries from an ATV accident that occurred on April 18 on Lees Mountain Road in Oxley. Cassell stated Searcy County Deputy Dustin Rosenberger was dispatched to the scene at approximately 6:22 p.m.

When Rosenberger arrived at the scene he found 23 year old Chase Dillion Leach of Leslie and 18 year old Brandon Michael McCollum of Oxley had been thrown from the 2019 Outlander XMR 650 they were traveling on and laying on the ground. The ATV was sitting upright in a ditch several yards from the men.

After assessing their injuries, North Arkansas Regional Medical Center personnel requested both men be transported by helicopter to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock for treatment.

Although the exact cause of the accident is unknown, law enforcement said it appeared that the ATV was traveling at a high rate of speed with it made contact with the embankment. Skid marks at the scene provided evidence. No charges have been filed at this time.
