UTV accident claims teen

  Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell reported on the afternoon of April 30 Searcy County deputies responded to a single UTV accident involving two teenagers on Star Mountain Road approximately one tenth of a mile past the of the Ivy Lane intersection in the Welcome Home area of Searcy County.

  Cassell stated during the course of the investigations, law enforcement officials determined that the UTV had been traveling south on Star Mountain Road when it struck two trees and turned over in the roadway.

  One of the teenagers died from the injuries he sustained as a result of the crash. The other teen was transported from the scene by helicopter and flown to a Little Rock hospital. His condition was unknown at press time.  

  Both teens were part of the current foreign student exchange program in Searcy County and attended Marshall High School.
