05/26/2020

According to Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell, on May 18 following a call to Searcy County Deputies, Deputies Joey Baysinger and David Williams and Chief Deputy Dewayne Pierce went to the Pine Bluff Church in Saint Joe. The caller stated that an individual, a white male, was at the church and it appeared he was attempting to gain entry through the back door of the church.

After arriving on scene, deputies located the man, who was identified as Joseph Cowan, age 26, of St. Joe. During the course of the investigation, deputies stated that it appeared Cowan had not gained entry prior to their arrival.

Cowan was arrested without incident and transported to the Searcy County Detention Center where he was charged with public intoxication, criminal trespass and possession of a controlled substance, marijuana.

Sheriff Cassell commends the citizen who contacted law enforcement officials and made them aware of the incident.
