St. Joe man arrested for meth

  According to Searcy County Sheriff, 51 year old Kelly Manes was arrested on June 24 and charged with drug possession. According to Cassell, the arrest occurred after Searcy County Deputy Joey Baysinger conducted a routine traffic stop on Manes' vehicle at the intersection of Hwy. 65/374.

  During the stop, Manes appeared nervous so Baysinger asked for and was given permission to search Manes' vehicle. Baysinger then brought K-9 Deputy Vader to the vehicle to conduct a free air sniff. During the sniff, Vader displayed a positive alert.

  Baysinger then searched the vehicle and found a piece of foil that contained a white powdery substance. After testing the substance using a Nar Tec field test kit, the substance tested positive for crystal methamphetamine.

  Manes was placed under arrest and was transported to the Searcy County Detention Center where he was charged with felony possession of meth or cocaine LT 2 grams. He is currently being held in the Searcy County Detention Center.
