Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell reported there is a new scam circulating in Searcy County where people are using the sheriff's office phone number to call people in Searcy County.

  The callers are telling residents that the sheriff's office has a warrant for their arrest and are asking them to call a special number to take care of the situation. When you call the number, they ask for money to drop the warrant against you.

  Cassell asks all citizens to be aware. This is a scam. Do not call the special number or give money. Cassell added that the sheriff's department will never call you to let you know you have a warrant.
