Couple arrested on drug charges

07/20/2020

Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell reported on July 13, Jamie Harrison Ragland, age 42, of Leslie and Melissa Youngberg, age 36, of Fifty Six were arrested on drug charges by Searcy County Deputy Joey Baysinger while on patrol on Hwy. 66 in Searcy County.

According to Cassell, Baysinger was conducting a routine traffic stop on the couple's vehicle when he noticed Ragland, who was driving the vehicle, appeared extremely nervous and was shaking. The passenger, Youngberg, was also nervous and shaking.

While checking their information through the crime information system, Baysinger learned that Ragland was on probation and had a search waiver on file. Baysinger learned that Youngberg had a valid warrant on file so she was placed in the back of Baysinger's unit.

At that time, Baysinger had his K-9 partner, Vader, conduct a free air sniff of Ragland's vehicle and indicated a positive alert. Searcy County Deputy Dustin Rosenberger conducted a search of Ragland's vehicle and inside he found a red straw with a white residue inside that was consistent with crystal methamphetamine. Youngberg admitted to deputies she had a vape pen contained marijuana hidden inside her clothing.

Ragland and Youngberg were arrested and transported to the Searcy County Detention Center. Ragland was charged with felony of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor charges of driving left of center and signals. Youngberg was charged with felony possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
