Harrison men arrested for drugs

07/28/2020

According to Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell, two Harrison men were arrested in Marshall on July 15 on drug charges.

Cassell said the arrest occurred after Searcy County Deputy Joey Baysinger conducted a routine traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Carl Blain Oliver, age 53, of Harrison. Baysinger said when he approached the vehicle Oliver and his passenger, William Clark Hefley, age 56, of Harrison both appeared nervous.

Baysinger ran their information through the crime information system and returned to the vehicle and asked both men if there was anything illegal in their vehicle. At this time, Searcy County Chief Deputy Dewayne Pierce and Deputy Justin Flint arrived on scene.

Baysinger then requested asked both men to step out of their vehicle and had his K-9 partner, Vader, to conduct a free air sniff on the vehicle. Vader gave a positive alert at the passenger door. While searching the vehicle, officers located a bag that contained a glass smoking device that contained white crystal-like residue that tested positive for crystal methamphetamine.  A key box was found on the passenger's side of the vehicle that also tested positive for crystal methamphetamine.

Oliver and Hefley were transported to the Searcy County Detention Center where both were charged with felony possession of drug paraphernalia.
