Traffic stop leads to arrest

On August 7, Searcy County Deputy Troy Dye conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Nicole Case, age 27, of Searcy County for an equipment malfunction and erratic driving.

Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell said during the stop, Dye noticed an issue with the way Case was speaking and her body movements. Case gave Dye permission to search her vehicle and during the search, Dye found a glass smoking device in a backpack located in the backseat of the vehicle.

After conducting a Nar Tec field test on the glass device, it tested positive for methamphetamine.

Case was arrested and transported to the Searcy County Detention Center where she was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, Class D felony.

On August 11, during Searcy County Circuit Court Judge H.G. Foster set her bond at $2,500. After her release, the court ordered Case to undergo random drug screenings. Her case will be forwarded to Searcy County Deputy Prosecutor Benjamin Fruehauf for review.
