Couple arrested on drug charges

  On August 22, Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell reported that a car carrying two people was stopped by a Searcy County deputy at the Shell Station in Marshall due to an equipment malfunction. Cassell stated the car was carrying the driver, 51 year old Bonnie Lee Bradberry of Austin, AR, and her passenger, 51 year old Carlton Daniel Perkins of Romance, AR.

  Cassell explained when the deputy approached the vehicle, he asked Bradberry for her driver's license and proof of insurance. He also asked the passenger for his license. While running their information through the crime information computer, the deputy learned Perkins had a valid arrest warrant.

  The deputy placed Perkins under arrested and when he returned to the vehicle to talk with Bradberry, he noticed she appeared nervous and her hands were shaking. He asked Bradberry if she had anything illegal in her vehicle and asked permission to search the vehicle.

  With assistance from the Marshall Police Department and their K-9, the deputy searched Bradberry's vehicle.

During the search, law enforcement found a bag that contained glass light bulb and straws. Inside the bulb, officers found a crystal like substance. There was another bag located that contained a metal container that held two plastic bags that held a crystal like substance.

 The crystal like substance tested positive for crystal methamphetamine.

  Perkins admitted to law enforcement that everything found in the vehicle belonged to him. Bradberry admitted to law enforcement that she had a container that held marijuana and a blue pill identified as a Schedule IV controlled substance.

  Perkins was transported to the Searcy County Detention Center where he was charged with felony possession of meth or cocaine LT 2GM and felony possession of drug paraphernalia.

  Bradberry was charged with misdemeanor possession of a Scheduled VI LT 4 ounces and misdemeanor possession of Scheduled IV or V LT 28 GM. Bradberry also received citations for her traffic violations.
