Store video leads to arrest

10/06/2020

On September 21, the Searcy County Sheriff's Office was notified of a suspicious person at Wade's Convenience Store in Leslie. Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell responded to the scene and viewed video surveillance of the store's exterior.

While viewing the video, Cassell saw 41 year old Mitchell Gossett of Lonsdale, Arkansas reach through a partially opened window of a car sitting in Wade's parking lot and unlock the vehicle.

Cassell placed Gossett under arrest for felony breaking and entering of a vehicle. During the arrest process, Gossett voluntarily stated that he blamed the methamphetamine for his actions.

Gossett was transported to the Searcy County Detention Center where he remains in custody. A parole hold was placed on Gossett since he is currently on active parole in the State of Arkansas.
