Welfare check leads to arrest

10/20/2020

According to Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell, on October 7, a Searcy County Deputy arrested 51 year old Michael Morrison of Leslie.

Cassell said the arrested occurred when the deputy saw Morrison leave a residence known by authorities on Main Street in Leslie. The deputy noticed Morrison was stumbling as he walked and almost fell to the ground.

When the deputy approached Morrison to check on his well-being, he noticed Morrison was nervous and having difficulty speaking.

When the deputy ran Morrison's personal information through the crime information system, he learned that Morrison was on probation with Arkansas Community Correction. While checking Morrison for weapons, the deputy found a glass smoking device in Morrison's pocket.

Morrison was arrested and transported to the Searcy County Detention Center where he was charged with felony possession of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication.
