Calls, texts lead to arrest

10/20/2020

Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell reported on September 9, two Searcy County residents contacted his office concerning a relative who was harassing them for unknown reasons.

Searcy County Chief Deputy Dewayne Pierce spoke with the couple and learned 46 year old James Allen Drewry of St. Joe had contacted the couple by cell phone at odd hours during the night. Pierce said the contact was in the form of threatening and vulgar text messages. According to the couple, Drewry had sent them approximately 26 text messages.

On September 10, a third Marshall resident filed a complaint against Drewry for harassment. She told law enforcement officials Drewry had called her cell phone so often she was forced to block his number. She also said Drewry had entered her residence unannounced.

The victim said she had asked Drewry to leave her alone and to stop visiting her place of employment, but Drewry has continued the harassment.

On October 8, Drewry was arrested and transported to the Searcy County Detention Center where he was charged with four counts of harassing communications using telephone, telegraph, mail or any written form.
