11/30/2020

On Monday morning, November 23, at approximately 8:15 a.m., the Searcy County Sheriff's Department responded to a call concerning an unresponsive man in the back of a pickup truck on Hwy. 66 near Oxley.

When law enforcement officials arrived on scene, they found lifelong Searcy County resident Micheal Torok, age 53, who was unresponsive lying in the back of a truck. When Medic One arrived, they placed Torok in an ambulance for transport, but Torok died on scene and was pronounced dead by the Searcy County Corner Doug Morrison.

Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell contacted the Arkansas State Police for assistance with the investigation. The state police conducted interviews and did an investigation of the scene. They also sent Torok's body to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for autopsy.

Searcy County Chief Deputy Dewayne Pierce said the sheriff's office is awaiting the official cause of death from the Medical Examiner's Office. At this time, officials do not believe that any foul play is suspected.
