02/09/2021

Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell reported on Monday, January 18, at approximately 10:45 p.m. Searcy County Deputy Troy Dye initiated a traffic stop near Leslie on a green Chevrolet after learning the vehicle tags on vehicle were fictitious.

After Dye attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver fled the area and threw something from the vehicle before heading toward Oxley on Hwy. 66 then entered the edge of Stone County before entering Van Buren County where Van Buren County deputies took control of the pursuit on Hwy. 110.

The vehicle pursuit ended when the driver turned onto Half Moon Road, which is a one-way road. While searching Half Moon Road for the driver and vehicle, they found the vehicle, which had rolled off a bluff, but after searching the area the driver was not located.

The Searcy County Sheriff's Department conducted a search of the area where the driver threw something from the window near Leslie but nothing was located.

The investigation was turned over to the Van Buren County Sheriff's Department.
