SC K-9 earns national certification

According to Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell, Searcy County K-9 Vader and his partner, Searcy County Deputy Joey Baysinger completed the Drug Beat K-9 Narcotics Detection Course in Paragould, Arkansas and certification was received by the team on April 21.

  During the course, Instructor Blake Bristow said Vader completed and received certification in K-9 detections for marijuana, cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin and Ecstasy.

  Vader, who is a 3 year old Malinois, has been with the Searcy County Sheriff's Office since June of 2020 years. Baysinger joined the Searcy County Sheriff's Office in June of 2019 and serves as the department's K-9 Officer.

  Cassell said, "The whole department is very proud of Vader and Baysinger for their newest certification in drug detection. Our goal is to use this new certification to help reduce the flow of illegal drugs in Searcy County. We are fortunate to have dedicated professionals like Baysinger and Vader who help make Searcy County a better place to live."
