Marshall man arrested for threats

  Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell reported that 57 year old Jeffery Tanner of Marshall was arrested on Tuesday, May 11 and charged with making a terroristic threat, which is a Class A felony.

  Cassell said on Monday, May 10, his office learned that Tanner had threatened to go into the Paul U. Jones Courtroom in Marshall and shoot the judge, prosecutor and any other individuals present so law enforcement officers, would in turn, shoot him.

  Following an investigation into the matter, law enforcement learned Tanner had made the threats and 20th Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Carol Crews issued a warrant for Tanner's arrest.

  On Tuesday, May 11, Searcy County Deputies arrested Tanner at his residence. He was transported to the Searcy County Jail for booking and processing.

  On Friday, May 14, Tanner appeared in the Searcy County Circuit Court where is bond was set at $500,000. He is currently being held in the Searcy County Jail awaiting his bond funding or next court appearance.

  Members of the 20th Judicial District Drug Task Force assisted the Searcy County Sheriff's Office with the investigation and arrest of Tanner.
