07/06/2021

Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell reported on June 23, a Marshall man was arrested by a Searcy County deputy after he was stopped for driving erratically on Hwy. 65 near Leslie.

Cassell said after 49 year old Jimmy Mayfield of Marshall was stopped, he admitted he was driving on a suspended license. When law enforcement ran Mayfield's information through the crime information computer, they learned Mayfield had an outstanding arrest warrant out of Newton County.

After placing Mayfield under arrest, the deputy did a search of the area and the vehicle and found a zip lock bag with a crystal-like residue inside. After testing the substance with a Nar Tec field test kit, it tested positive for crystal methamphetamine.

Mayfield was transported to the Searcy County Detention Center where he was charged with felony possession of drug paraphernalia, felony tampering with evidence and misdemeanor driving on a suspended license and outstanding warrant.
