Threats lead to arrest

08/11/2021

Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell reported 43 year old Michael L. Landsbaugh of Conway has been arrested after making threats to a Marshall woman.

According to Cassell, on July 30, Searcy County Deputy Lt. Billy Cordell received a call from a 32 year old Marshall resident who stated she, her children and her family members had been threatened by Landsbaugh. She explained to Cordell that she and Landsbaugh had been in a relationship for the past three years and during that period Landsbaugh had abused her several times.

She said she had unsuccessfully attempted to end the relationship one month prior and during their conversation Landsbaugh had threatened to bind her and watch "her kids being tortured and killed" before he took her life.

After securing an affidavit for Landsbaugh's arrest through the 20th Judicial Prosecuting Attorney Carol Crews, he was located in Conway on August 4 and taken into custody without incident.

Landsbaugh has been charged with felony first degree terroristic threatening with the purpose of terrorizing another person and being a habitual offender. He is currently being held in the Searcy County Detention Center awaiting an appearance in Searcy County Circuit Court.
