Endangering Arrest

09/14/2023

Sheriff Kenny Cassell states that on August 17, 2023, the Searcy County Sheriff's Office was contacted by an individual who wished to remain anonymous.  The individual stated that they had knowledge of an infant who was experiencing medical complications, that they, the individual believed it to be narcotic induced, due to methamphetamine in the infant's body.  On August 18, 2023, Sheriff Cassell assigned the investigation to Chief Deputy Dewayne Pierce.

During the course of the investigation, Alyssa Jacobs of Searcy County was contacted by Pierce.  Jacobs was in custody on an unrelated charge.  During an interview with Jacobs, it was determined that Jacobs had failed to contend with certain dangers surrounding the infant.

In light of the fact Jacobs observed the dangers surrounding the infant and did nothing to stop or report it to authorities, she has been arrested for the offense of Endangering the Welfare of an Incompetent Person First Degree, a Class D Felony
