According to Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell, on Monday, March 18, an affidavit was issued by the Twentieth Judicial Prosecuting Attorney for the arrest of Zachariah M. Worley of Marshall for assaulting a family member.
According to affidavit, the assault occurred, prior to March 18, and was brought to law enforcement’s attention after a Facebook video surfaced involving Worley and the victim. The video allegedly reflects that the victim told Worley to leave her house. After Worley walks to the door, he turns and walks back to the victim, swings his right hand and knocks the cell phone from her hand.
Although it is unclear in the video that Worley struck the victim, there was an apprehension of imminent physical injury. At one point, contact was attempted with the victim however, she did not provide a statement to law enforcement.
Worley is currently charged with third degree assault on a family or household member, which is a Class C misdemeanor.
On March 19, 2019, Worley turned himself into the Searcy County Sheriff's Department where he was processed and booked. Worley has a District Court date of April 9, 2019. He has since posted bond.
