Following a two day trial conducted in Searcy County Circuit Court, 68 year old Searcy County resident, Ronnie Hogue, was found guilty of negligent homicide in the 2016 shooting death of Stephanie Bonine, age 29, of Searcy County.

The Honorable H. G. Foster presided over the trial that began on Tuesday, April 23 and ended Wednesday, April 24. Following the jury's guilty verdict, Foster sentenced Hogue to serve one year in the Searcy County Detention Center and ordered him to pay a $2,500 fine.

Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell stated that Hogue was arrested on November 22, 2016 following a 911 call to the Searcy County Sheriff's Office stating a person had been shot in a wooded area west of Marshall. When local law enforcement arrived at the scene, they found Bonine lying on the ground with an obvious wound to her neck. According to information, Hogue confessed to shooting Bonine thinking she was a deer he had been hunting. Bonine was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cassell stated that Hogue is also currently charged with felony and misdemeanor drug charges from an arrest that occurred on Friday, February 15, 2019.
