rescuing people from rising water

During the heavy rains that occurred last Sunday in Searcy County and surrounding areas, five people from Texas were stranded at the Fallen Waters area of the Richland Creek Campground near Witts Springs. According to Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell, his office received a call Sunday afternoon stating that several young people were stranded due to the water rising so quickly. Cassell said with the assistance of the Pope County Swift Water Rescue Team, Newton County Sheriff’s Office, members of the National Park Service, and Constable Keith Karnes, those stranded were recovered and transported to a safe area. Cassell would like to thank everyone involved in rescuing these individuals. Pictured is Pope County Water Rescue.
