Drug raids lands four in jail

Two early morning simultaneous drug raids conducted by the Searcy County Sheriff's Department and assisted by members of the Marshall Police Department, Van Buren County Sheriff's Department, Stone County Sheriff's Department, Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and the 20th Judicial Drug Task Force landed four Searcy County residents in jail.

According to Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell, the raids took place on Thursday, June 27, at 6:00 a.m. at three different locations in and around Marshall. During the course of the investigation that led to the raid and arrests, several of the individuals arrested had recently sold illegal narcotics to a confidential informant (CI).

Arrested and charged were:

Jeffery Len Tanner, age 55,  of Marshall was charged with possession of meth or cocaine with purpose to deliver, Class A felony; possession of firearms by certain persons, Class D felony; possession of drug paraphernalia to ingest, inhale, Class D felony; use or possession of paraphernalia to manufacture, Class B felony; offenses relating to records, maintaining premises refuse entry, Class C felony; manufacturing of scheduled VI controlled substance, Class D felony; manufacture of scheduled VI controlled substance, Class D felony; and battery II, Class D felony.

Tanner's bond was set at $80,000. He is scheduled to appear in the Searcy County Circuit Court on July 16 at 9:30 a.m.

Stephanie Diane Gates, age 31, of Marshall was charged with possession of meth of cocaine with purpose to deliver, Class C felony; use or possession of paraphernalia to manufacture meth or cocaine, Class B felony; offenses relating to records, maintaining premises, refuse entry, Class C felony; possession with purpose to deliver controlled substance scheduled VI substance, Class A misdemeanor; possession of drug paraphernalia, Class A misdemeanor; and endangering the welfare of a minor, first degree, Class D felony.

Gates' bond was set at $50,000. She is scheduled to appear in the Searcy County Circuit Court on July 16 at 9:30 a.m.

Deunte Deon Brown, age 32, of Marshall was charged with possession of meth or cocaine with purpose to deliver, Class C felony; use or possession of paraphernalia to manufacture meth or cocaine, Class B felony; offenses related to records, maintaining premises, refuse entry, Class C felony; possession with purpose to deliver controlled substance schedule VI, Class A misdemeanor; possession of drug paraphernalia, Class A misdemeanor; and endangering the welfare of a minor, first degree, Class D felony.

Brown's bond was set at $40,000.  He is scheduled to appear in the Searcy County Circuit Court on July 16 at 9:30 a.m.

Charles H. Barker, Jr., age 50, of Marshall was charged with possession of meth of cocaine with purpose to deliver, Class C felony. His bond was set at $15,000. He is scheduled to appear in the Searcy County Circuit Court on July 16 at 9:30 a.m.

Sheriff Cassell extends his thanks to each of the individuals/organizations who assisted in the operation and the arrest of these individuals. Cassell said, "These types of operations will keep all of the residents of Searcy County safer. We are thankful for the support of these organizations and their effort to protect and serve all Searcy County citizens."
